Words in the Woods

Lose yourselves amongst the thinkers and the dreamers. With support from Literature Wales and Seren Book Publishers, we present a fine medley of authors, speakers and poets in the Seren Speaking Circle and Red Barn.
Many of their works have been influenced by nature and the unique, inspiring landscape of this beautiful coastal area.

Nature & Science

Listen to talks by knowledgeable naturalists and academics, debate current issues in conservation, sustainability and medicine or take time out to watch a nature film or documentary. Explore the natural world
through “hands-on” science workshops. At Micrographia, you can investigate the microscopic world of insects, plants, fungi and pond life, as well as learn about the wonderful, rare and varied flora & fauna that make their home in Merthyr Mawr National Nature Reserve.
Immerse yourself in nature with walks over the sand dunes, fungi and moth identification sessions, foraging and bee-keeping workshops. Don’t forget to visit the Wildlife Trusts, Woodland Trust, RSPB and Green Peace exhibitions.

Creative Arts

Ever since early humans walked the Earth, they have created art to decorate, communicate and adorn.
There are workshops for all ages where you can make natural ephemeral land art or enjoy a masterclass session in watercolour, sketching, print making or ceramics with one of our artists in residence.
At the Mead Hall, the brilliant creative arts team make art accessible for all ages. Using natural flora and resources found around the festival site, they create stunning mandalas, floral head-dresses and adorable little wooden creatures and flowers.

Well-being & Mindfulness

Relax, Restore, Revive: The Pagoda Well-being area provides a unique, quiet and peaceful space away from the central area. This leafy glade is a perfect site for relaxation and meditation. You can pre-book an array of healing experiences Including massage, Yoga and Qigong.
Reconnect with nature with a mindful forest walk, where you will be guided through the quiet areas of the 100-acre festival woodland site and enjoy the experience of forest bathing.
