Workshops

Traditional Woodland Skills

Have you ever walked past a trail of stalls and been wowed, asking yourself How on earth did they make that? What would I need to give it a go myself? or maybe, I could never do that! I wouldn’t know where to start!

Not only do our traders present bespoke goods at their stalls, but they also put on workshops! Blacksmithing, metalwork, woodwork, tool sharpening, willow weaving and more…

Willow weaving is an ancient craft that has been in use for thousands of years. Within the British Isles, the earliest historical records of willow weaving date from the Mesolithic (around 8,000 to 10,000 years ago) – what an ancestral skill to learn! Time to get tactile and weave away, creating baskets and even your own creation once you know the ropes.
